General Description:

This Medical Assistant position provides both administrative and clinical support in patient registration, rooming, demographic and medical data collection as well as patient checkout including appointments, discharge information and payment under the supervision of a provider.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greeting patients promptly and professionally;

  • Assisting patients with the registration process including but not limited to assistance with collecting required patient information, medical history, relevant documents, and electronic signatures;

  • Preparing the patient for the exam by performing preliminary tests, as needed;

  • Reporting relevant information to the provider;

  • Assisting the provider with patient care as requested;

  • Performing scribe duties, as needed;

  • Reviewing treatment procedures with patients;

  • Assisting in ordering tests/retrieving results;

  • Reviewing discharge instructions;

  • Collecting any patient payments and scheduling follow up appointments, if required;

  • Balancing and closing a journal each day, when applicable;

  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and complies with HIPAA standards;

  • Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;

  • Medical Assistance Certification or Degree in the Sciences preferred

  • 1-3 years of experience in a medical setting preferred;

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;

  • Strong data entry skills;

  • CPR/BLS preferred

Type of position: Full Time, non-exempt

Monday-Friday. Hours range 7:30am-5pm

40 hours per week
