Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Health Program Coordinator I will provide programmatic support within the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities Prevention (OMH-HDP) by coordinating, developing, planning and implementing activities that raise awareness about health disparities of marginalized communities as well as increase engagement with those communities. Responsibilities include: the coordination and preparation of health equity reports, assessments and/or plans for populations identified by OMH-HDP staff, including data collection and analysis; serve as liaison to the Health Equity Council and assist in coordination of activities thereof; maintaining and developing relationships with stakeholders; presentations for stakeholders and the public and/or hosting listening sessions to solicit input from impacted communities; promoting awareness of funding opportunities and activities; updating and maintaining OMH-HDP web pages and social media; and supervising staff. Other appropriate related duties as assigned.

COVID-19 highlighted long-standing inequities that have systematically undermined the physical, social, economic, and emotional health of marginalized populations, including racial and ethnic minority populations, people living with disabilities, older adults, rural residents, and lower-income communities.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of experience in program coordination in a public health, health, health regulatory, or human services related program; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field. Experience working with underserved communities and/or addressing health inequities. Experience in community outreach, engagement, or program management. Experience interpreting, analyzing, and displaying data. Experience coordinating group meetings of a board or coalition or similar body. Experience preparing and providing presentations to and for diverse audiences. Demonstrated strong leadership and writing skills. Proficiency using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Zoom, Webex, and Microsoft Teams. Familiarity with GIS and/or Canva (or other presentation software). At least one year of experience supervising staff, interns or volunteers.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
