Description of Duties:

The Grant Administrator (GA) will provide post-award financial analysis and support for research grants and contracts received by the University at Albany. The GA will review and analyze grant expenditures to ensure that the expenses are appropriate, allowable, within budget limits and paid in a timely manner. In addition, the GA will monitor cost sharing and will work with project managers to close out grants in a timely manner.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for accurate and timely review of all expenditure requests to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, sponsor, UAlbany and Research Foundation regulations.

  • Review supporting materials for all new and renewed grants and contracts for financial terms and conditions.

  • Communicate regularly with Project Directors, project administrative staff, and sponsored funds staff regarding the financial status of projects, grants, and contracts.

  • Achieve and maintain proficiency in the most current versions of federal regulations pertaining to the administration of grants and contracts. This includes but is not limited to Uniform Guidance and Research Foundation standard operating procedures and regulations.

  • Coordinate the closeout process of all grants and contracts within the assigned portfolio. Responsible for sub recipient monitoring and payment. Monitor and reconcile project-related bank accounts.

    Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in a related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a relevant professional position.

  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with exceptional customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy, and consistency to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with varying degrees of pressure.

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience in research administration, contract administration, or in a higher education environment.

    Additional Information:

Salary Range: $55,000 - $62,000

Subject to change: This position may be eligible for up to 60% alternative workplace arrangement (Hybrid) with supervisor approval after a probationary period with in-person requirement located in Albany, New York.
