The Employment Specialist is to provide vocational assistance to individuals with disabilities, considering each individual’s unique strengths, abilities, capabilities, and priorities.

DUTIES:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of individuals receiving OPWDD and/or ACCES-VR services

  • Provide individualized assistance in job preparation, search, development, placement, and coaching.

  • Assess clients’ abilities, capabilities, and explore work interests

  • Conduct community-based work assessments

  • Provide vocational counseling & guidance in support of individual’s work goals

  • Collaborate with employers to secure competitive, integrated employment

  • Assist individuals learning and performing job tasks through on-the-job coaching

  • Maintain communication with Managers and Supervisors at the worksite

  • Provide travel training and other work-related assistance as needed.

Since the majority of duties are carried out in the community, candidates must be independent and capable of exercising good judgment. Candidates must be have excellent organization, time management, and problem solving skills. Effective interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong writing, organizational and time management skills are essential. Candidates must be flexible in adjusting work hours to meet the support needs of their clients.

Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities

  • College degree preferred

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required

Salary Description

$18.00 - $24.00 per hour
