Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Clerk II will provide clerical support to the Wadsworth Center CLIMS Data Entry & Reporting Unit including performing routine review and verification of data entry demographic and testing information on clinical specimens submitted for laboratory analysis, flagging errors for correction; track, log, and scan specimen history forms; print and mail reports; answer/handle telephone calls and requests from program staff and submitting facilities; route calls to appropriate staff; contact submitters for missing information; assist with basic testing and process validation for the modernization of the CLIMS and HCS CLIMS systems; assist supervisor with training new staff on the data entry process; provide daily work schedule when supervisor is unavailable; enter new facilities and submitters into the database; perform file validation and integrity checks; and assist with performing other appropriate related duties as assigned.

This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center's mission in the New York State Department of Health's efforts to protect and promote the health of New York's citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health!

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in a related field or higher degree in a related field; OR two year of general office, secretarial, or administrative experience

Preferred Qualifications

Data entry experience; clerical experience; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience utilizing electronic health systems with confidential patient information. Experience with basic software testing and process validation.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.
