Position : Geosynthetic Liner Inspector 2

Location : Alabaster, AL

We are seeking a CMT Inspector 2 for The Greater Birmingham area , Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Under general supervision, perform field inspections, observations of construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, permits, approved shop / working drawings, project documents and specifications in accordance with established procedures

  • Read and interpret construction documents including, but not limited to, drawings, specifications, standards, codes and shop drawings

  • Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete inspection reports and / or testing records daily in accordance with established quality procedures

  • Perform analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Supervisor

  • Document, track and communicate construction non - conformance

  • Under general supervision and direction, interact with clients and other site personnel and provide input on appropriate resolution of issues and findings

  • Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with Project, Department, and / or Office Managers

  • Abide by Atlas' health and safety policies and procedures

Minimum requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Must have 5+ years’ experience with construction materials testing and inspection on landfills and / or surface impoundments

  • Must have relevant field - testing certifications (ICC, NICET, ACI, etc.) and experience with materials laboratory testing (i.e. soils and concrete)

  • Must have experience with the inspection of geosynthetics liner / cap installation for landfills and / or surface impoundments and successfully completed no less than five projects totaling not less than one million square feet of geosynthetic installation

  • Experience with coal combustion residuum (CCR) placement during ash pond closures/containment systems

  • Must have fundamental working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Desire to provide excellent practical client service and a commitment to technical excellence

  • Excellent client service abilities and ability to meet deliverables on time and on budget

  • Must have effective communication skills (speaking and writing), using the English language

  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving MVR policy

  • Willing to travel to remote areas for extended periods of time

Technical requirements:

  • Geosynthetics QA / QC training and certification (GSI GCI - ICP) is required

  • Must have knowledge of CMT reports in various Microsoft formats.

Other miscellaneous qualities:

  • Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to pass MVR and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles

  • Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold

  • Ability to stoop, sit, stand, or be on their feet for extended periods of time
