Amentum Field Project Engineer in Aiken, South Carolina

Amentum is searching for a Project/Field Engineer to be based out of our Aiken, SC office

This Project/Field Engineer will serve as an expert staff contributor or project lead for a broad program involving applications related to installing and testing complex systems and subsystems. Perform in a lead or supervisory role for project engineers/technicians. Additional responsibilities may be assigned according to the company's needs, project, or contract.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Contribute to the development of test objectives, instrumentation, and data requirements, writing test planning documents, scheduling program activities, tracking funding and expenditures, and planning and conducting test missions.

2. Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

3. Apply comprehensive knowledge of design specifications on more complex systems/projects.

4. Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.

5. Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

6. Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.

7. Support the development of the technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.

8. Contribute subject matter expert knowledge on the most complex technology application problems.

9. Maintain technical project responsibility for assigned tasks and advise progress management to support the technical and administrative direction of project operations.

10. Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.

11. Develop, interpret, and implement technical and administrative operating policies and procedures.

Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 15 years experience in the field of specialty. Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Possesses well developed leadership skills. Requires the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad prospective. Must qualify for and maintain a security clearance and possess a current state issued driver's license.

Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen only. Dual Citizenship will not be accepted for this position.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office or field environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds. There is occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required. The position may require travel.
