Job Summary: S4 Inc. is seeking a highly capable Security Incident Response Specialist to manage and mitigate security incidents at the Army Research Laboratory (ARL). ARL's mission is to discover, innovate, and transition science and technology to ensure dominant strategic land power, with a vision to be the nation's premier laboratory for land forces. The Security Incident Response Specialist will work within the Cybersecurity Office under the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), ensuring compliance with DoD and Army Cybersecurity standards across ARL's environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and mitigate security incidents reported to the ARL Cybersecurity Office.

  • Perform data collection, incident containment, and event correlation to detect, determine, and minimize the effects of incidents on the ARL network.

  • Investigate and manage incidents reported by the Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP).

  • Ensure appropriate action is taken for each incident, coordinating with CSSP and relevant IT staff until incidents are successfully resolved.

  • Investigate potential policy violations or security incidents and write detailed reports with findings and remediation recommendations.

  • Provide reports and recommendations to the ISSM for determination and further action.

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Cybersecurity, with a focus on incident response and management.

  • Strong understanding of DoD and Army Cybersecurity standards and protocols.

  • Proficiency in data collection, incident containment, and event correlation.

  • Experience with coordinating incident response activities and working with Cybersecurity Service Providers (CSSP).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with IT staff and report findings.

    Key Areas of Focus:

  • Support the Cybersecurity Office under the OCIO within ARL.

  • Manage Cybersecurity services for ARL's three directorates: Research Business Directorate (RBD), the Army Research Directorate (ARD), and the Army Research Office (ARO).

  • Ensure successful performance and compliance with Cybersecurity standards across ARL environments.
