Job Summary: S4 Inc. is seeking a dedicated Security Assessment & Accreditation (A&A) Specialist to support the Army Research Laboratory (ARL). The ARL's mission is to discover, innovate, and transition science and technology to ensure dominant strategic land power, aiming to be the nation's premier laboratory for land forces. The A&A Specialist will be responsible for performing day-to-day activities of the A&A lifecycle for all ARL enterprise systems, ensuring compliance with DoD and Army Cybersecurity standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily activities of the A&A lifecycle for ARL enterprise systems.

  • Review DoD and Army policy requirements for A&A applicability.

  • Coordinate and strategize A&A plans for current and upcoming authorization and Authority to Operate (ATO) efforts.

  • Develop recommendations and update Cybersecurity policy documentation and artifacts, including System Security Plans, Security Policies, IT Contingency Plans, and other required A&A artifacts.

  • Respond to A&A/Control related requests and questions from ARL leadership and IT staff.

  • Coordinate the collection of necessary A&A documentation from Government IT teams and System Administrators.

  • Create and publish guidance for the distribution, evaluation, approval, and submission of artifacts within the ATO package.

  • Review artifact submissions and provide actionable feedback with specific deficiencies and deadlines.

  • Implement higher command A&A guidance as directed by the ISSM.

  • Manage the Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) process, including guidance for creation and submission, maintenance and oversight, and improvements to the process.

  • Maintain required A&A documentation in Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) for all ARL systems, ensuring it is up-to-date and meets all A&A requirements.

  • Prepare for and lead the Annual Information System Contingency Planning (ISCP) Training/Exercise with relevant scenarios, document discussions, and provide written recommendations for improvement within 30 days following the exercise.

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of Cybersecurity experience.

  • Strong understanding of DoD and Army Cybersecurity standards and A&A processes.

  • Experience with security assessments, policy development, and compliance.

  • Proficiency with eMASS and other Cybersecurity tools.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders and manage multiple tasks effectively.

    Key Areas of Focus:

  • Support the Cybersecurity Office under the OCIO within ARL.

  • Manage Cybersecurity services for ARL's three directorates: Research Business Directorate (RBD), the Army Research Directorate (ARD), and the Army Research Office (ARO).

  • Ensure successful performance and compliance with Cybersecurity standards across ARL environments.
