Indian Health Service Supervisory Clinical Psychologist in Acomita, New Mexico

Summary This position is located at the New Sunrise Regional Treatment Center (NSRTC), Acomita, NM and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The position serves as clinical director in assuring appropriate clinical management and services are provided throughout the facility as well as clinical leadership, clinical supervision and training to all NSRTC staff. Direct patient care duties. Responsibilities Serves as a Clinical Psychologist with prescriptive privileges. Clinical duties will include patient diagnosis, treatment, providing consultation for psychotropic medication and/or prescribing psychotropic medication per licensure. Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the services provided in NSRTC and the direct supervision of department staff members. Directs the development, assessment, coordination, and delivery of mental health, alcohol/substance abuse, and social work services. Provides leadership in developing Behavioral Health specific, communitywide services. Conducts peer reviews for psychologists/allied health professionals periodically for compliance with CARF accreditation, professional standards of care and competency, program objectives, facilities and program policies, psychology professional standards of practice and effectiveness of the services provided. Provides assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapy and/or pharmacotherapy utilizing a broad range of assessment and therapeutic resources as indicated by the specific needs of child, juvenile and their families. Promotes and preserves a psychotherapeutic atmosphere among the professional treatment staff, participates in developing treatment programs for patients, and advises and consults with all levels of professional staff concerning psychological characteristics and behavior changes of clients. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Degree: Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-14: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples Include: Specialized experience includes diagnosing and treating a full range of psychiatric disorders, providing initial treatment of acute psychiatric conditions, formulating and implementing a plan of care; providing various treatment modalities; providing consultation services for psychotropic medication and consultation to other health care providers and referral sources; provide leadership and guidance in the development and implementation of procedures, policies, and direction of clinical services. Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the qualification requirements, to be rated basically qualified for the position, applicants must demonstrate possession of the following: Verification of a current, valid, active, unrestricted license or certification in any State, the District of Columbia, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States is required when filling all positions for Clinical Psychologist. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
