Doble Engineering Company Coil Winder Technician I in Accident, Maryland

We are seeking a Coil Winder who will work in our Transformer Fabrication Winding Department. The Coil Winder will operate or tend coil winding machines to produce the winding portion of low voltage, medium voltage, high voltage, high current, high power transformers including: potential transformers, current transformers, dielectric, regulators, motor test sets, compensation reactors, resonance test sets, core loss, re-closer, column regulators, AC, DC transformers. Attach, alter, and trim materials such as wire, insulation, and coils, using hand tools. The role will be based in our Accident Maryland Facility reporting to the Production Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist team members in completing tasks and jobs.
  • Understand and follow written and verbal communications.
  • Wind coils following instructions using a coil winding machine with supervision.
  • Fabricate and install coil forms onto the winding machine with supervision
  • Practice and wind copper or aluminum conductors around the form with supervision.
  • Install taps in the required location using a soldering iron or torch, with supervision.
  • Install insulating materials between the layers of conductors, with supervision.
  • Prepare coils for treatment procedures as outlined on the winding sheet (JobPack) for review by a senior level winder.
  • Take resistance reading and do continuity checks on coils, with supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and functional work environment
  • Operate bake oven with guidance.
  • Overtime may be required in order to meet scheduling requirements
  • Accurately track material usage.
  • Alert Supervisor of low inventory.
  • Assist team members in organizing and storing parts and materials used in the Winding Shop

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year of experience working in an environment requiring extreme attention to detail while working with both hand and power tools, preferred.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):

  • 1 year of experience working in an Industrial type setting
  • 1 year of experience operating manufacturing equipment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Operate hand tools
  • Operate power tools
  • Read and follow written instructions
  • Knowledge of soldering
  • Knowledge of brazing
  • Ability to learn to operate a coil winding machine
  • Ability to learn to operate an overhead crane, coil processing equipment and bake oven.
  • Stay focused and work well alone or as part of a team
  • Proficient in Math

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, file paperwork, and use telephones. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds.

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.

Hourly Pay Range Minimum $16.64 - Midpoint $20.80
