New York University Research Scientist (1) in the Division of Science [Biology] - Dr. Sehamuddin Galadari in Abu Dhabi, United States
The Cell Death Signaling Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Research Scientist to work on the mechanisms underlying p53-mediated multimodal cell death pathways regulated by cytotoxic proteins in mammalian cells and animal models. The successful candidate will lead innovative research focusing on the interplay between different proteins and lipids within and between cells. In particular, the candidate will be involved in conducting advanced cellular and molecular biology techniques to investigate Par-4 interaction with p53 and other proteins or lipids which directly or indirectly controls p53 levels, thus orchestrates varying Par-4 tumor suppressive function. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cell biology and signaling pathways, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate findings effectively through presentations and publications
Responsibilities of the position include:
Design and conduct experiments to identify and explore the biochemical features, morphological features, and regulatory pathways of ferroptosis, apoptosis, necroptosis, autophagy, oxeiptosis, and pyroptosis.
Plan and conduct experiments to develop new products and processes for studying genes, proteins, and transcription factors involved in ferroptosis.
Conduct experiments using techniques such as mammalian cell culture, gene expression analysis (RNA-seq), qRT-PCR, cytotoxic assays, Western blotting, DNA and RNA isolation, fluorescent microscopy, FACS, and transient-stable transfection.
Analyze and interpret results from these techniques using GraphPad Prism, and then publish the results in relevant journals.
Manage laboratory equipment and materials and keep licensing and certification up to date.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of PhD scientists, graduate students, and undergraduates, contributing to a dynamic and collaborative research environment.
Candidates must hold a a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Biotechnology, with a focus in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, or a similar area of cancer research. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of ten years of research experience using both qualitative and quantitative methods, specifically related to various cell-death programs, including apoptosis, autophagy, and ferroptosis, and experience in designing and executing experiments with methods like mammalian cell culture, gene expression analysis (RNA-seq), qRT-PCR, cytotoxic assays, Western blotting, DNA and RNA isolation, fluorescent microscopy, FACS, and transient-stable transfection is required.
Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, transcript of degree, research statement, and at least 2 letters of recommendation, all in PDF format.
