Apprentice Lineman D is an entry-level position to line work on underground electrical.Preferred experience is 6 months and must be local to the Abilene, TX area.
What You'll Do
Work on utility poles and fixtures in de-energized situations
Maintain MAD while working around conductors and equipment
Follow safety performance requirements
Use, care for and inspect IPP
Introduction to Transmission and Distribution, Basic electricity, Digger derrick operation, using tools, rigging, climbing wooden poles, electrical safety, grounding for worker protection
Complete required company training, including safety training
Perform Administrative duties as required
Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership
What You'll Have
1 year experience in the electrical powerline industry
6 months experience as a Groundworker required
Have all the skills required for a Groundworker
Complete a climbing evaluation, if necessary complete formal training on climbing basics
Understand the use, care and maintenance of PPE for energized work
Pass evaluation of competency before promotion and enroll in Apprenticeship Training Program

Work Environment
Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
Legal Stuff
Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
