Position

Innovative Materials and Process Scientist for Agile Manufacturing

  • Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland

  • Security Clearance: Active Clearance or Eligible to Obtain - U.S. citizenship required

  • Salary: $85,000 - $105,000 Depending on Experience and Education

  • Travel: 5%

    Position Summary

    SURVICE Engineering is currently seeking a Innovative Materials and Process Scientist for Agile Manufacturing to support our Aberdeen Research Operation. You will accelerate your career and become an integral team member within the defense community.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply the current state of the art in novel material processing and innovative manufacturing science to originate, formulate, and advance novel high payoff research strategies.

  • Utilize sophisticated experimental and analytical techniques in material processing and manufacturing sciences based on theoretical and phenomenological knowledge.

  • Interpret expedient innovative materials and manufacturing research requirements to develop sound research execution and to define critical research tasks/schedules.

  • Execute innovative materials and manufacturing research plans by designing process experiments, defining required property data set, conducting relevant structure characterizations, and fully analyzing the process-property-structure relation.

  • Execute materials and manufacturing research within ARL and coordinate, compare and document associated research initiatives within other government agencies, industries, and academia.

  • Investigate, define, and propose additional innovative materials and manufacturing research requirements and needs.

  • Coordinate, prepare, and maintain supplies, materials, and equipment for use at Innovative Materials Processing Laboratory, Cold Spray Laboratory, or Additive Manufacturing Laboratory as required.

  • Prepare presentations and written documents summarizing efforts in Government format for Form 1 approval (process of instruction provided by COR as GFI). Upon TM request, Contractor personnel shall present the information to the ARL staff, universities, private corporations, research institutes, national laboratories, or other Government research centers.

    Minimum Qualifications of Innovative Materials and Process Scientist for Agile Manufacturing Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field and 3-5 years of relevant experience. Exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered. Candidates are not required to possess all qualifications; if you possess some of the desired qualifications, please apply.

  • Experience in planning, directing, managing and executing basic and applied research supporting the design, development, assessment, and transition of innovative processing science and manufacturing technologies to enable fabrication, integration and production of novel high-performance materials and material systems

  • Experience in advanced materials processing (e.g. ultra-high performance nano, hybrid, multifunctional materials; multiscale structural materials processing, nonequilibrium nanomaterials processing

  • Experience independently executing research programs as a Principle Investigator (PI)/co-PI with total cumulative value of at least $500,000 dollars or equivalent

  • Experience in writing proposals, reports, technical program summaries, PowerPoint presentations, and journal publications to include having a minimum of ten (10) research publications/technical reports and ten (10) presentations
