Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Mission Support Positions (STRL) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position serves as the Engineering Technician in the Human Systems Integration Division located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Responsibilities Serves as Test Officer/Test Director, enforcing range safety regulations. Coordinates range operations by managing schedules, keeping track of inventory, and overseeing the maintenance of facilities/equipment. Maintains small arms systems with expertise in weapon integration and ballistics. Installs and maintains range targets and/or sensors. Manages electronic systems and/or tools to facilitate range operations. Improves soldier systems and develops future firing capabilities. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN DE-0802-03: Specialized Experience: To qualify, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as; (1) Conduct research, testing, evaluation, and/or training on live-fire activities; (2) Repair technical issues and/or system failures in small arms and/or their components; and (3) Operate and/or maintain electronic systems, heavy machinery, and/or tools associated with range operation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DE-02 (GS-11 Equivalent). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the minimum qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information This appointment is covered by a Laboratory Personnel Demonstration Project. This position is in BUSINESS AND TECHNICAL CAREER PATH, Pay Band III Category II. DE-03 pay band at the GS-12 step 1 through GS-13 step 10 level (CAT2) Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. 3-year probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
