Responsibilities Assignments are received orally or in writing from the supervisor in the form of cooks worksheet, menu, standardized recipes and meal schedules. Supervisor or higher-grade cook provides detailed instructions on cooking methods and use of equipment for new or more difficult assignments. Employee is responsible for the proper use and cleaning of kitchen equipment, safety practices, personal hygiene, and conformance with food service sanitation requirements. Higher-grade cook is available to answer technical questions and to ensure that the work is being done properly. Completed work is evaluated in terms of quality of food cooked, and adherence to time schedules and instructions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Qualifications: Work experience related to the duties described above, that included skill in working with professiobal kitchen applicances and equipment. Be able to comunicate (verbal and written) in English. Education Additional Information Area of Consideration: The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is Local (radius of 50 miles of Harford/Cecil counties). PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
