This position is part of the Critical Care division, and as such will become a part of the BD organization in the future. Critical Care will operate as a separate business unit, called Advanced Patient Monitoring (APM) within BD's medical segment, aligning with BD's smart connected care approach. The Engineer II applies knowledge of technical principles and Edwards systems/procedures to optimize product development.
How you will make an impact:
Create, test, and/or improve moderately complex signal processing algorithms, physiological models, time series models, control systems and/or machine learning models (including deep learning) by developing moderately complex algorithm scripts, experiments and tests (including writing and executing protocols), analyze results, make recommendations, and develop reports, based on engineering principles
Generate scripts for statistical data analyses, test methods, algorithm prototype code, etc., to establish /characterize algorithm and/or machine learning model specifications.
Create/update portions of design control documents including algorithm requirement specs and risk documents
Analyze and interpret moderately complex physiological and clinical data, animal model data, algorithm results data, Machine Learning model performance data, etc..
Create tools for data analytics, mining, and visualization and integrate them with data processing pipelines for model development

What you will need: (Required)
Bachelor's Degree in in Engineering or Scientific field, 2 years years experience of previous related experience Required or
Master's Degree or equivalent in in Engineering or Scientific field+ internship, senior projects, or thesis in Engineering or Scientific field including either industry or industry/education Required
What else we look for: (Preferred)
Proven skills in usage of Matlab, and/or Python, and/or R and/or similar scripting tools and/or good skills in usage of software programming tools such as C/C++, C# and others
Good skills in usage of Machine Learning tools
Good skills in usage Control Engineering tools, such as Simulink..etc
Good documentation, communication (e.g., written and verbal) and interpersonal relationship skills including consultative and relationship management skills
Basic understanding of machine learning (including deep learning) and data mining techniques
Basic understanding of statistical techniques
Previous hands-on experience working with scripting and/or programming languages and/or machine learning tools required
Basic understanding of databases (SQL and others)
Solid understanding and knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts relevant to Algorithm and/or Machine Learning model development and/or Control Systems
Solid problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
Solid understanding of programming principles: algorithm scripting and/or software programming and processes and tools used in programming work
Knowledge of and adherence to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety and Quality guidelines as they relate to department clean room medical device manufacturing
Strict attention to detail
Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to work in a team environment, including the ability to work with third parties and project stakeholders
Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships

For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $93,000 to $132,000 (highly experienced).
