REI Senior Portfolio Manager, Marketing Customer Engine in Seattle, Washington

Overview

This position contributes to REI’s success by providing leadership, priorities, and support for a team of Agile Project Managers within Marketing’s go-to-market Customer Engine. The Senior Portfolio Manager, Customer Engine will be accountable for linking longer-term marketing strategies to near-term project execution plans by proactively enabling greater business agility through a system thinking approach and operating model.

The Senior Portfolio Manager possesses a proven strategic and operational mindset and leverages both to develop and orchestrate end to end Agile operating models that link business and technology to delivery automation, in service of the Customer Engine business strategies and learning priorities. Along with an excellent business acumen and a solid awareness of the REI business, the ideal candidate possesses exceptional relational skills building relationships with ease across all levels of the organization from individual contributors to executives. They thrive in times of change, navigating and leading a team through times of ambiguity helping to connect the dots between strategic impact with operational excellence to achieve business results.

To be successful, the ideal candidate has extensive experience developing and deploying operating models (people, process, tools) that drive effective, efficient, and nimble ways of working that reinforce business strategies. A respected thought leader who will challenge the team and partners to find new ways of working that reflect business agility.

  • Strategic thinking: sets the vision for and heads a team of project managers with the ability to think big-picture, while driving tactical and effective program management.

  • Drive decision making with deep experience working within operating governance models that are oriented by insights and data, enable business agility, and support program test/learn agendas through effective and efficient ways of working.

  • Program alignment and integration: Aligning program targets with organizational strategy and integrating project deliverables into a coherent whole.

  • Delivery agility: Solid knowledge of Agile and traditional project management methods and practices with an ability to blend them based on project requirements.

  • Adaptability: Assesses and refines the operating model and processes to create repeatability and enhance scalability.

  • Leadership voice: Serve as a guide for both the team and with broader stakeholders to ensure longer-term strategies link to near-term execution plans.

  • Technical expertise: Quickly develop and maintain a deep awareness of our campaign delivery mechanisms to ground effective problem-solving, prioritization and enable rapid project execution.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Identifies and coordinates interdependencies across various departments and functions, to promote close partnerships, break down silos and drive mutual goals.

  • Resource planning: Works with both marketing operations planning team and leaders to maintain a constant state of balance between our priorities and operational design and efficiency, headcount planning, modeling, and hiring.

  • System mindset: Facilitates forward-looking perspectives to ensure organizational thinking around efficiency (automation) and effectiveness (scale) to ensure our PMO readiness to uphold core functions such as our Customer Engine in the future.

  • Collaborative problem solver: Partner with Marketing Operations peer(s) for dependencies of systems, tools, and technology to inform projects within the Customer Engine portfolio.

  • Portfolio communications: Manages deadlines and project details through regular and ongoing communication with Marketing partners

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working in a fast-paced, highly matrixed Marketing Strategy, Integrated Marketing and Marketing Operations PMO.

  • 7+ years experience managing a team of Traditional and Agile Project Managers who are experienced working across a variety of process working models from traditional Waterfall to Agile and Scrum

  • 7+ years experience designing, developing, and deploying data driven operating models that enable business agility with strategic impact

  • Solid knowledge of software development processes and engagement methodologies. Demonstrated experience managing Agile development projects.

  • Baseline expertise of Marketing technology, ecosystem, and date structures (taxonomy)

  • Demonstrated experience with Marketing tooling such as Workfront, Smartsheet for portfolio & project planning, tracking, and reporting

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office business applications: Excel, Visio and PowerPoint

Pay Range

$122,800.00 - $208,700.00 per year
